Chandigarh launches campaign to root out cannabis
In compliance with the directions of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, the UT Engineering Department, in coordination with the MC and police, has launched a massive exercise to eliminate cannabis plants across the city.
The department has formed teams of officials from public health and horticulture wings to identify and remove hemp plants from open spaces, vacant plots and roadsides under the UT jurisdiction.
A pro forma for assessment and documentation of hemp plant removal will be jointly signed by the area junior engineer and designated police officers to ensure accountability and transparency in the process.
The horticulture wing started the hemp removal drive on May 23 and it will continue till complete eradication of such plants from UT land.
