‘Vidudala 2’ streaming on OTT..planned for Sankranti
Mumbai: The film ‘Vidudala 2’ starring Vijay Sethupathi and Suri was released on 20 December. Now this film will come on OTT. The film ‘Vidudala Part 1’ directed by Vetrimaran was released in 2023 and was a superhit in Tamil and Telugu. Vetrimaran has directed ‘Vidudala 2’ as a sequel to this film. It stars Vijay Sethupathi, Suri, Manju Warrier, Gautham Vasudev Menon and Bhavani Sri in the lead roles.
Release 2 did not perform as expected at the box office. Due to this it could not achieve big collections. Zee5 OTT has acquired the digital streaming rights of this film at a huge price. However, the makers are planning to release this film on OTT as a Sankranti gift. It is reported that Zee5 is planning to bring the film ‘Vidudala 2’ on streaming on January 17, 2025. There is a buzz that both the Tamil and Telugu versions will be available on the same day. However, an official announcement from ‘Zee5 OTT’ is yet to be made in this regard. Released with great expectations, the film has crossed the Rs 50 crore mark at the box office so far.
Story
‘Vidudala-1’ ends with the arrest of Praja Dal leader Perumal (Vijay Sethupathi). Part 2 begins with the interrogation of Perumal who is taken into custody. When the news of Perumal’s arrest comes out, they plan to take him to another camp and stage an encounter there. They have to go to that camp through the forest. Komaran (Soori) along with some other policemen take Perumal.
On the way, Perumal tells his flashback story. How did Perumal, a school teacher, join the Dal? How did Perumal’s life change with the arrival of KK (Kishore), who fights against the oppression of the Zamindari system?
