Tamil Nadu: Political rhetoric has intensified following the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Responding to allegations leveled by the DMK, the Congress party clarified that its support was not for power or profit, but rather to maintain the secular character of the Tamil Nadu Victory Party.
Congress Legislative Party leader S. Rajesh Kumar issued a detailed statement on Thursday. He stated that in the political climate following the election results, some are leveling misplaced criticism at Congress’s decisions. According to him, Congress’ support for the Thaveka Party was based solely on political principles and secular ideology.
Rajesh Kumar strongly rejected allegations that this decision was made to gain power or deceive the public. He stated that the Congress’s move was not a political ploy, but a thoughtful decision made to strengthen secular politics in the state.
He also stated that Congress had received numerous political proposals and approaches even before the election announcement, but the party, adhering to its principles, decided to remain with the Indi alliance. According to him, Congress has always pursued a policy of unitedly fighting against communal forces, and this decision was made in line with that.
The Congress leader also claimed that Congress workers played a key role in ensuring the Secular Progressive Alliance’s victory in the last assembly elections. He stated that party workers worked hard at the grassroots level and contributed to the alliance’s success.
Rajesh Kumar further stated that facts are being distorted in current political debates, which is incorrect. He clarified that Congress’s objective has always been to strengthen democratic values and secular ideology.
This entire incident has sparked a new debate in Tamil Nadu politics. While the war of words between the DMK and Congress continues, political analysts are viewing it as a sign of future political dynamics.
At present, the phase of alliance, support and allegations and counter-allegations is going on in the state politics and more clarity on this issue is likely to emerge in the coming days.
