Former Union Minister and Hamirpur MP Anurag Thakur on Monday said that the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) is the BJP’s firm commitment and will be extended to other states in a phased manner, with Uttarakhand leading the way.
Addressing media persons in Shimla, Thakur also targeted Pakistan, saying that it has failed in almost every field except promoting terrorism.
He said, “Blaming India for Pakistan’s internal failures has become a habitual excuse, while India is rapidly progressing on the path of development, global leadership, and economic growth.”
Highlighting the completion of 12 years of the Narendra Modi-led government, Thakur said that this period has been defined by service, good governance, transparency, national security, and inclusive growth.
He said that India has grown from the 10th largest economy in the world in 2014 to the fifth largest, while remaining one of the fastest-growing major economies. Thakur claimed that over 250 million people have been lifted out of multidimensional poverty during the last 12 years. He said that flagship schemes like the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Ayushman Bharat, Jal Jeevan Mission, Ujjwala Yojana, PM Jan Dhan Yojana, Digital India, Startup India, PM Vishwakarma Yojana, and PM-KISAN have transformed the lives of millions across the country.
He said that the Center has consistently provided financial assistance to Himachal for infrastructure development, disaster recovery, healthcare, and capital investment.
He said that projects worth over Rs 2,247 crore, including 294 rural road projects, have been approved for the state under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).
During his visit, Thakur offered prayers at the Jakhu Temple and later participated in a tree plantation drive under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, emphasizing the importance of environmental protection and sustainable development. He also met Governor Kavinder Gupta at Lok Bhavan.
