Thane: Elderly man going to get milk dies after being hit by a vehicle
Maharashtra: A 73-year-old woman died in a vehicle accident while going to get milk in Thane’s Teen Haat Naka area on Thursday morning. After the accident, the driver fled from the spot instead of helping the injured woman. Naupada police have started examining CCTV footage of the area to search for him. The woman who died in the accident was the mother of PTI news agency correspondent Ashish Agashe. The woman who died in the accident is named Pushpashri Shripad Agashe (73). She lives in Roshni Complex near the Psychiatric Hospital at Teen Haat Naka. She had left her house at 6.40 am on Thursday to get milk. She was returning home after buying milk from a shop. At that time a vehicle going from Mumbai to Nashik hit her at Teen Haat Naka. She was seriously injured. Instead of helping the injured elderly woman, the driver fled from the spot.
Citizens passing through the area rushed her to the Thane District Government Hospital for treatment. However, as her condition was critical, she was taken to Sion Hospital. Doctors there declared her dead. After that, her body was brought to the Thane District Government Hospital for postmortem. The Naupada police have registered an accident case. Abhay Mahajan, Senior Police Inspector of Naupada Police Station, confirmed the news and said that the search for the accused is on. Pushpashree Agashe had gone to get milk. At that time, she had forgotten her mobile at home. She did not return home even after a long time. So, the family started searching. But, she was not found. She was conscious at the time of the accident. She told the mobile number of a family member to the citizens who came for help. But, one of the numbers was wrong and it turned out to be a Satara number. Because of this, the citizens could not contact her family. Meanwhile, a nurse lives in Pushpashree’s building. She works at the district hospital. When Pushpashree’s body was brought to the district hospital for postmortem, she saw it and then contacted her family and informed them. So, her family came to know about her sudden death two hours after the accident, sources said.
