Seasonal Illnesses: Guidelines for Undergoing 7 Types of Tests

Tamil Nadu: The Department of Public Health has advised individuals exhibiting symptoms to undergo seven specific types of diagnostic tests to identify the impact of seasonal changes on their health.
Chickenpox, Mumps, Coronavirus, Influenza (Types A and B), and RSV (Respiratory Syncytial VirusâTypes A and B) are all infectious diseases.
Common symptoms include fever, chills, sore throat, cough, headache, body aches, and diarrhea. For Coronavirus, certain medicationsâincluding Paracetamol, Levocetirizine, and Ivermectinâare administered based on the specific symptoms presented.
For Influenza A and B infections, medications such as Oseltamivir and Peramivir are prescribed. RSV A and B infections are treated using Ribavirin and antibiotics. Antiviral medications are administered for Chickenpox, Mumps, and Rubella.
In light of this situation, individuals exhibiting such symptoms have been advised to undergo appropriate diagnostic tests to identify the underlying illness. Health Department officials stated in this regard: “In Tamil Nadu, infections such as Influenza, RSV, and Adenovirus are spreading rapidly. Although Coronavirus currently manifests as a mild seasonal illness, periodic testing is being conducted to detect whether any mutations (genetic changes) have occurred in the virus. We have recommended that individuals suffering from fever, cold, and cough undergo seven specific types of diagnostic tests.” They further added that, at present, there is no outbreak of these diseases that warrants any cause for alarm.
