Panipat Police Arrest Woman in Honey Trap Case

With the arrest of a woman, the Panipat Police have claimed to have busted a gang involved in a ‘honey trap’ case in Samalkha. The police arrested the woman red-handed while she was accepting a sum of ₹1 lakh.

The accused woman has been identified as Manisha, a resident of Chulkana Road in Samalkha. It is alleged that she was blackmailing a retired Sub-Inspector; she threatened to file a rape case against him and, in exchange for not doing so, demanded a sum of ₹15 lakh.

In a complaint submitted to the SP’s office on Saturday, a retired Sub-Inspector from Gannaur stated that he had known Ranbir—a resident of Ahlana—for a long time. It was Ranbir who had introduced him to Satbir, a resident of Gannaur, and informed him that Satbir was his brother-in-law.

On February 26, Satbir introduced him to Manisha, a resident of Samalkha, and told him that her husband was an alcoholic who subjected her to harassment. Manisha obtained his mobile number. On March 10, the woman called him and claimed that her husband was beating her. He rushed to the location but, upon arrival, found that the woman was alone.

The woman offered him a glass of water to drink. After consuming the water, he slipped into a semi-conscious state. It is alleged that the woman then took him into the bedroom, recorded compromising videos of him, and sent them to Satbir and Ranbir. Satbir subsequently forwarded these videos to the retired Sub-Inspector’s wife, claiming that the woman was on her way to the police station to file an FIR against her husband. To prevent the woman from proceeding, he demanded a sum of ₹8–10 lakh. However, the wife explained that she was a heart patient and suggested that, regarding the money, he should speak to their son instead. Satbir then demanded ₹15 lakh from their son.

Later, the woman called the retired Sub-Inspector and told him to pay the money directly to her rather than handing it over to Ranbir or Satbir. All three of them were pressuring him to pay them money.

Upon receiving the complaint, the Samalkha police investigated the matter and subsequently registered a case.

Samalkha SHO, SI Gulshan, stated that the woman called the retired Sub-Inspector again and demanded ₹1 lakh from him. Following this, a police team laid a trap. The complainant arrived beneath the flyover, from where Manisha took him in an e-rickshaw to the grain market. The SHO explained that just as she was accepting the ₹1 lakh from the complainant, the police team caught her red-handed and recovered the money from her.

The SHO further informed that the accused woman was produced before the court on Sunday, and the court remanded her to judicial custody.
