Kolkata: Suspended Trinamool MLA Humayun Kabir will announce his new party today

Kolkata: Humayun Kabir, the suspended Trinamool Congress MLA from the Bharatpur assembly constituency in West Bengal’s minority-dominated Murshidabad district, will announce his new political party on Monday.
The announcement will be made from Mirzapur, which is quite close to Beldanga, the proposed site for the Babri Masjid that Kabir intends to build.
On Monday, he will announce the names of the new party’s office-bearers, as well as the names of some district presidents. Kabir has said that he plans to contest more than 100 seats in the state assembly elections next year.
He has also claimed that he is confident that his new political party’s candidates will win a significant number of seats in the assembly elections, and thus play a crucial role in the formation of the new state cabinet after the polls.
He had appealed to all anti-Trinamool Congress and anti-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) political forces to unite with him and play a crucial role in ousting the current Trinamool Congress government in West Bengal, but without giving the BJP any chance to seize power.
Kabir said, “My job is to unite the minority voters. Our target is to win at least 90 seats so that my party can play a role in forming the new government after the assembly elections next year. Otherwise, my dream of building the Babri Masjid in Beldanga, Murshidabad district, might remain unfulfilled.”
He has also said that his party will field candidates against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in the Bhawanipur assembly constituency in South Kolkata and against Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Suvendu Adhikari in the Nandigram assembly constituency in East Midnapore district.
Although Kabir himself has not made any announcement about the name of his new political party, a person close to him indicated that one of two names will be chosen, namely, Indian Conservative Party and Janata Unnayan Party.
However, the suspended Trinamool Congress MLA has clearly stated his top two choices for his new political party’s logo. According to him, his first choice for the logo would be a “table,” while his second choice would be “two roses.” He said, “If I don’t get either of the two, I will think about a third option.”
After being reprimanded several times by the Trinamool Congress leadership, he was officially suspended from his party earlier this month, an event that occurred a few days before the proposed foundation stone laying ceremony of the Babri Masjid in Beldanga on December 6. This proposed mosque will be built in the same style as the original structure in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, which was demolished on December 5, 1992.
