Indore Police receives state-level honour for ‘Safe Click 2.0’ campaign

Madhya Pradesh: The Indore Police Commissionerate has been honored at the state level for its outstanding performance in the “Safe Click 2.0” campaign, launched to raise awareness about cybercrime. During this special cyber awareness campaign, which ran from June 24th to July 8th, the Indore Police organized a large-scale outreach program to educate citizens about online fraud, digital security, and cybercrime prevention. In recognition of the campaign’s success, Police Headquarters honored the Indore Police by including it among the best-performing commissionerates in the state.

The honor was presented by Director General of Police (DGP) Kailash Makwana at a state-level event held in Bhopal. The Indore Police Commissionerate was honored with a shield and a citation for its outstanding work. This honor is considered official recognition for the police’s extensive public awareness efforts in the field of cybersecurity.

During the campaign, the Indore Police organized more than 307 cyber awareness programs across the city. Through these programs, citizens were informed about the ways to avoid the growing cybercrime in the digital world. Police officials advised people to be wary of cybercrimes such as fake calls, online banking fraud, phishing links, fake investment schemes, social media fraud, OTP sharing, and digital arrests.

According to the police, over 275 offline events were organized as part of this campaign, spreading the message of cybersecurity to over 8 million people. Over 500,000 citizens directly participated in various programs and received cybersecurity information from experts.

Digital platforms were also extensively utilized to make the campaign more effective. Awareness messages, videos, posters, and precautionary information were continuously shared on social media platforms under the theme “Safe Click, Safe Life.” Through these digital efforts, the message of cybersecurity reached over 7.5 million people.

Indore Police did not limit the campaign to formal events, but also conducted extensive outreach campaigns at various public locations across the city. Special awareness activities were organized in schools, colleges, residential colonies, banks, hotels, restaurants, shopping malls, markets, religious places, bus stands, railway stations, and other public places.

During the campaign, various creative mediums were used to engage people and convey the message in a simple manner. These included lectures, street plays, cultural performances, awareness rallies, marathons, cyber hackathons, poster distribution, and the display of cybersecurity videos on LED screens. A large number of students, youth, senior citizens, businessmen, and the general public participated in these programs.

Police officials stated that cybercrime is constantly emerging in new forms. Therefore, law enforcement alone is not enough; timely awareness of citizens is equally important. If people remain vigilant and understand the methods used by cybercriminals, most online frauds can be prevented.

During the campaign, experts advised people not to click on any unknown links, not to trust suspicious calls or messages received on their mobile phones, and not to share confidential information such as bank accounts, ATM cards, OTPs, or passwords. They also advised them to immediately report cyber fraud to the National Cyber Helpline 1930 or the Cyber Crime Portal.

During the awards ceremony, Director General of Police Kailash Makwana stated that public participation and awareness are the most important tools for effectively combating cybercrime. He praised the Indore Police’s initiative and said that such campaigns are an inspiration for other districts.

Indore Police Commissionerate officials credited the honor to the police force, voluntary organizations, educational institutions, social organizations, the media, and all citizens who contributed to the campaign’s success. They stated that such campaigns will continue in the future to raise awareness about cybersecurity.

The success of the “Safe Click 2.0” campaign demonstrates that if the police, society, and digital media work together, a strong security system can be developed against cybercrime. The state-level honor has also boosted the morale of the Indore Police, and it is hoped that such cyber awareness campaigns will be launched on a more widespread scale in the future.
