Himachal Pradesh: Flash floods following a cloudburst near Jispa in Lahaul-Spiti district have worsened the situation. The strong current and debris have completely blocked the main national highway in the area, bringing traffic to a complete halt. According to reports, following a sudden cloudburst near Jispa, a large amount of water and debris descended from the mountainous region, damaging the road and flooding several areas. The flooding has made road traffic impossible, and given the situation, the administration has taken a significant decision to prioritize safety.
Following instructions from Lahaul-Spiti Superintendent of Police Shivani Mehla, the police administration has coordinated with the Ladakh and Zanskar police. Following the joint decision, all vehicular movement towards the affected area has been completely suspended until further notice.
Administrative officials stated that this step was taken to protect the safety of travelers and local residents, as continued rainfall and landslides could pose further risks. The debris accumulated on the road is also hampering relief and rescue operations.
