Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi visited Kandhamal district today and inaugurated a 100-seat government medical college and a 650-bed hospital in Phulbani. He also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of various projects worth about Rs 750 crore for the development of the district.
The long-awaited hopes of the people of Kandhamal have been fulfilled and their long-awaited dream of getting better healthcare services has come true after inauguration of this medical college and hospital. This medical college in Kandhamal will not only provide medical education, but it will also provide a guaranteed and quality health service here and will be an inspiration to bring about a big change in the lives of the people of the surrounding area, the CM said in his speech.
The Chief Minister said that this 650-bed government medical college and hospital will create a new chapter in health care not only in Kandhamal district but also in the entire state.
Addressing the gathering, he said that as soon as our government came to power, the much-awaited ‘Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana’ of the people of Odisha, which was kept away from the citizens for political reasons, has been implemented. With this, three and a half crore people of Odisha will be able to get free healthcare in 29,000 private hospitals in the country.
Along with ‘Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana’, the state government’s Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana is being implemented as a single health care scheme. Also, the Ayushman Vayo Vandana Yojana for the senior citizens is giving importance to increasing the facilities of good health care. More than 80 percent of the general public in the state will get benefits from these three health service schemes.
This college has opened a new door of education for the youth of Kandhamal and the surrounding areas. After graduating from this college, the medical experts will be able to play an important role not only in Odisha but also in the entire country in the future.
The Chief Minister urged the medical students to make a vow to make this college a leading institution in the field of health services.
This hospital will not only benefit Kandhamal district but also the people of the neighboring Nayagarh, Boudh and Kalahandi districts. The Chief Minister expressed the hope that it will also act as a powerful engine for local employment, research and economic development.
Later, the CM also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 10 different projects worth about Rs. 750 crore for the development of the district in Phulbani. Out of these projects, five projects worth over Rs 655 crore were inaugurated and laid foundation stone of five projects worth over Rs 94 crore.
It is worth noting that these projects include rural drinking water projects, mega piped water supply projects, school infrastructure improvement, tourism centers, health centers, road construction projects, Mission Shakti Bazaar, Multipurpose Community Centers and other government infrastructure.
Other than the CM, Health Minister Dr. Mukesh Mahaling, Kandhamal MP Sukant Kumar Panigrahi and Phulbani MLA Umcharan Mallick were also present on the occasion.
