Bhubaneswar: Man dies due to explosion in hospital, wife commits suicide

Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, after a man died in an explosion at a Bhubaneswar hospital on Monday, his wife also committed suicide. The deceased has been identified as Manas Samantrai. According to reports, his wife Soumyasri Jena committed suicide after hearing the news of her husband’s death on Sunday. According to reports, he committed suicide at his ancestral home in Nuagaon village of Jatni. Reports say that his body has been sent to Capital Hospital, Bhubaneswar for postmortem.

A case of unnatural death (UD) has been registered in this regard. He got married only two years ago. According to reports received on Sunday, a person named Manas Samantarai died in the tragic incident of explosion in a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. At least four to five people were reported injured after an explosion at a private medical college and hospital in Bhubaneswar’s Pandra area on December 29.

According to hospital CEO Jyoti Ranjan Panda, the explosion occurred due to a short-circuit while filling gas in the outdoor AC at around 6.15 pm. “Four people were injured in the incident. He is undergoing treatment in the ICU of the hospital. A total of 25 doctors and 40 nurses were providing treatment to them,” he said, adding that the situation was under control and no patient was affected due to the blast.
