Ayodhya’s institution Sitaram Bank is running in Chhattisgarh
Raipur. There is a bank in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, where not money but the name ‘Ram’ is deposited. This bank, which was started two years ago, has 1084 account holders, in whose accounts about Rs 1 billion have been deposited. Here both the consumer and the operator are devotees of Ram. While usually rats gnaw copies and books, here the rats do not gnaw the copies with Ram’s name written on them. There is a belief behind this also. Devotees get blank copies for free and after writing Ram’s name on them, they deposit them in the bank.
The aim of this bank is to connect people with spirituality. Mahant of Shri Sita Ram Mandir Gondpara and director of Ramnam Bank, late Dr. Laxman Sharan Maharaj was a professor in Pt. Ravi Shankar Shukla University. Mahesh Chandra Gupta, manager of International Shri Sitaram Bank, says that this bank, which has been operating about 20 years ago, was started by 336 members, who deposited around Rs 55 crore copies in the bank after writing the name of Ram.
Before 2022, Rs 25 crores of Ram Naam were deposited in Shivrinarayan Bank from many nearby districts including Bilaspur. Ram Bhakta Senior Advocate Mahesh Chandra Gupta has given space in his residence at Mungeli Naka for setting up the bank. Its certificate has been given to him by Mahant Nritya Gopal Das, the founder of International Shri Sitaram Naam Bank. After which this bank is operating in Mungeli Naka.
