Assembly election security work: Tamil Nadu Police Department allocated Rs 57.65 crore

Tamil Nadu: ₹57.65 crore was allocated for food, drinks, and other minor expenses for police personnel engaged in security duties for the Assembly elections.
The police department is making elaborate security arrangements to prevent any untoward incident on election day and to ensure that people cast their votes peacefully and freely. Tamil Nadu has approximately 5.73 crore voters. 75,032 polling booths have been set up across the state for their voting. Tensions are looming at 5,938 polling booths in 3,022 locations. Armed paramilitary forces are deployed for security at these polling booths. On polling day, April 23rd, approximately 1.40 lakh personnel, including police, paramilitary personnel, fire brigade, forest department, prison department, retired army personnel, police, and village guards, will be deployed for security. Approximately 30,000 paramilitary personnel from 295 companies have arrived in Tamil Nadu for security purposes. All of them will be deployed to secure polling stations on April 21st.
Allocation of ₹57.65 crore: Police will be fully deployed across the state on May 4th, the day of counting of votes. The Tamil Nadu government has allocated ₹57,65,52,600 for food allowances and other expenses for police personnel engaged in security duties. The order was issued by K. Manivasan, Additional Chief Secretary (Home).
This includes ₹900 per day for food allowances and other expenses for a police inspector, assistant inspector, and special assistant inspector, while a head constable and constable receive ₹850 per day. Similarly, fire department officers receive ₹900 per day, fire department personnel ₹850 per day, jail officers ₹900 per day, and jail guards ₹850 per day. Senior police officials said that this money will be given to the police before they go on election security duty.
