Automatic signaling system, operating more than one train simultaneously in a section
Raipur. South East Central Railway is continuously striving for maximum traffic with passenger facilities by using modern and convenient technology. To ensure better operation under this modern and advanced technology, the traditional signaling system is being upgraded and converted into automatic signaling system. Auto signaling system helps in running maximum number of trains without construction and maintenance of additional stations and controlling traffic at major junction stations.
Due to the installation of automatic signal system, trains will not have to stand unnecessarily anywhere. Due to this, one train behind the other on the same route will be able to run easily without getting late. Along with this, it has many benefits. In the South East Central Railway, the sectional speed from Nagpur to Durg has been increased to 130 km per hour, at par with the Rajdhani route. Automatic signals will increase the number of trains along with the speed of trains on the railway lines. At the same time, to get out of the train standing anywhere, one will not have to wait for the train running ahead to reach the next station. Green signal will be given as soon as the train starts moving from the station yard. That is, in a block section, trains will run one after the other with the help of signal. If there is a technical fault in the signal in front, then the trains running behind will also get the information. The trains will stop wherever they are.
Earlier, where only one train could run between two stations, 2, 3 or 4 trains can also come according to the distance between two stations through auto signaling. On an average the distance between one station to another is 12 to 15 kms. The train takes 15 minutes to cover this distance. After 15 minutes another train is run behind the first train. Railways is going to reduce this time to seven to eight minutes. So that double the number of trains running at present can be run. Railway is going to install automatic signal system between two stations for this. As soon as the middle signal is crossed, another train will be started from behind. Due to this, instead of 15 minutes, another train can be run in seven to eight minutes. Auto signaling system has been adopted in Kalamna to Durg (265 km), Jairamnagar – Bilaspur – Bilha (32 km) and Bilaspur – Ghutku (16 km) sections of South East Central Railway. In near future provision of auto signaling will be made from Champa to Gevra Road, Jairamnagar to Akaltara and Bilha to Nipania. On the basis of available resources, work is being done to implement automatic signaling system in various sections in place of traditional signaling system and absolute block system of train operation.
