Iran has invited PM Modi to Khamenei’s funeral.

New Delhi: Diplomatic sources stated on Wednesday that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend the funeral ceremonies of the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

The funeral ceremonies are scheduled to be held from July 5 to July 9. There has been no confirmation from New Delhi regarding the invitation extended to Prime Minister Modi.

Khamenei, who ruled Iran for three decades, passed away on February 28—the same day Tehran faced massive airstrikes by the US and Israel.

Diplomatic sources confirmed that President Pezeshkian has invited the Indian Prime Minister to the funeral proceedings.

The funeral ceremonies will take place in Tehran and Qom on July 5, 6, and 7. The final ceremony will be held in the city of Mashhad on July 9.
