Zerodha CEO Nitin Kamath suffers mild stroke

New Delhi: Zerodha co-founder and CEO Nitin Kamath on Monday revealed that he had suffered a mild stroke about six weeks ago, leaving him wondering why a fit person like him could be affected by it.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Kamath said that anything from poor sleep and exhaustion to his father’s demise could be the reason.

“About 6 weeks ago, I suddenly suffered a mild stroke. Dad’s demise, poor sleep, exhaustion, dehydration and overwork – any of these could be possible reasons,’ he posted. Kamath said that he is on the way to recovery.

“From having a big bend in the face and not being able to read or write, to a position with a slight bend, but being able to read and write more. From being absent-minded to being more present-minded. So, it will take 3 to 6 months for complete recovery,” the Zerodha CEO said.

He wondered why a person who is fit and takes care of himself could be affected like this. “The doctor said you have to know when you need to shift down a gear a little bit,” Kamath said, posting a picture of himself in the hospital.

He added, “A little broken, but still getting my treadmill count.” Zerodha reported revenue of Rs 6,875 crore and profit of Rs 2,907 crore for the financial year 2022-23 (FY23), marking a growth of 38.5 per cent and 39 per cent respectively in revenue and profit as compared to the previous financial year. ,

In FY22, the company had reported revenue of Rs 4,964 crore and profit of Rs 2,094 crore.
