Shimla. The winter season has taken the lives of 128 people so far. This figure is for the last 38 days. These deaths have occurred due to different reasons during this period. The State Emergency Operation Center has made the figures public. As soon as the snowfall stopped, all the departments sent reports from the districts to the state headquarters. 228 people have also been injured due to accidents. Maximum deaths have occurred in Sirmaur. 27 people have lost their lives here between February 1st and 7th. Six people are still missing in the state. Of these, four in Solan and one each in Kinnaur and Kullu, no trace has been found yet. Due to snowfall, 37 houses have been destroyed across the state. Of these, 18 are pucca houses while 19 are kutcha houses. Most of the damage to houses has occurred in Shimla. Here 16 pucca houses while four kutcha houses have collapsed so far. Apart from this, one pucca house each in Kullu and Sirmaur has collapsed in the last 38 days.
Five kutcha houses in Kullu have also fallen victim to snowfall. Apart from this, a record of three house collapses each was recorded in Chamba, Mandi and Sirmaur while one house collapsed in Solan. So far, the loss in the state has been estimated at Rs 50 crore 94 lakh. The Electricity Board has also suffered a blow of Rs 2 crore 84 lakh. One and a half thousand transformers and high voltage lines were broken due to snowfall. The board has so far estimated a loss of Rs 71 lakh due to transformer failure, Rs 71 lakh 18 thousand due to breakage of high voltage line and Rs 88 lakh 89 thousand due to LT lines. The Board has also suffered a loss of more than Rs 53 lakh due to the falling of pillars in snowfall affected areas. PWD has sent a loss report of Rs 32 crore 75 lakh to the state government. In this, the maximum loss of Rs 14 crore 66 lakh has been recorded in Dalhousie Circle. 8 crore 79 lakh in Mandi Zone, 4 crore 21 lakh in Mandi Circle, 3 crore 49 lakh in Kullu, 1 crore 8 lakh in Jogindernagar, 7 crore 78 lakh in Shimla, out of which 3 crore 52 lakh are in Shimla alone, 2 crore 54 in Rampur. There has been a loss of Rs 1 crore 71 lakh in Lakh and Rohru. NH has a loss of Rs 1 crore 51 lakh. 247 roads are still blocked across the state.
