Kanker. A case of murder of an old man on suspicion of witchcraft has come to light from Banskund village of Korar police station area of the district. Police investigated the case after the death of the old man and arrested 6 accused. The accused suspected that the old man killed their father by practicing witchcraft. Due to this suspicion, the accused killed the old man by planning. In this case, apart from section 103 (1), the police have separately taken action against the accused under section 238, 61 (2), 3 (5) of BNS. According to the information, on October 14, the blood-soaked body of 70-year-old Suganuram Usendi, father- late Sannuram Usendi (deceased), resident of Banskund, was found near the School Para playground of the village. There were many injury marks on the body of the deceased. Police registered a case of murder on the basis of investigation and postmortem report and started investigating the matter.
During investigation, police found that the deceased used to do exorcism. The father of the deceased’s nephew Ranjit Usendi died 3 years ago due to illness while building a house. Similarly, the father of Ranjit Usendi’s classmates Prakash Darro and Sunil Uike also died after falling from a tree. In this way, the three friends started suspecting Suganuram Usendi (deceased), who was a Baiga worker, due to the sudden death of their father. All three felt that the old man had taken the lives of their fathers by doing black magic.
Ranjit ran away from the scene of the incident and went to his home and Sunil-Prakash reached the party going on at Sunil’s house to their other friends and informed them about the incident. After which all the five friends again reached Suganuram and again beat him mercilessly and killed him. After the death of the elderly man, the accused picked up the body of the deceased and threw it on the side of the road. The police have seized the axe, bamboo sticks and blood stained clothes used in the murder from the accused and have arrested the accused.
