Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police has reportedly detained a man suspecting his involvement in the case of a visually-challenged woman’s child theft from Bhubaneswar Ram Mandir on April 12.
As informed by Bhubaneswar DCP Jagmohan Meena, complainant Jayanti Mallik used to beg in front of Ram Temple and return to Kayashram in Niladri Bihar everyday. But she could not go to the Kayashram due to bad weather on the night of April 12 and slept at footpath in front of Ram Temple along with her daughter aged about 6 years and son aged about 2 years.
One unknown male person came to Mallik at about 2 AM, gave juice to her son and kidnapped him somewhere, the DCP said adding that Kharavelnagar PS Case no.- 162, dtd.13.04.2025, U/s-137(2) BNS was registered and an investigation was initiated.
The DCP further said that multiple teams have been formed and working on rescue of the minor boy. Steps also are being taken to obtain photograph and video of the missing child and the place of occurrence and probable entry /exit route for identification of the wrongdoer.
“Technical data, human intelligence, Confidental source have been engaged to get clue in this case,” informed the DCP.
