Utnoor: Four-day 7th inter-society sports competition started

Adilabad: The four-day seventh Inter-Society Sports Competition began in a colorful manner at Utnoor Divisional Center on Wednesday. The event is being hosted by Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA)-Utnoor.

Adilabad Member of Parliament (MP) Soyam Bapu Rao along with MLAs Vedma Bojju and Anil Jadhav inaugurated the meeting.

Addressing a gathering, Bapu Rao said the central and state governments were encouraging sports, which was helping players win more than 200 medals in the Asian Games. He cited Khelo India being organized by the Central Government to promote sports. He promised to make efforts to create facilities in this direction and support the players.

MLA Bojju congratulated the students for their excellent performance and winning medals in various sports. He said that the state government is taking special steps for the development and promotion of sports. He told the students to bring glory to their parents by shining in sports as well as studies. He asked to take both victory and defeat equally.

ITDA-Utnoor project officer Chahat Bajpai said that elaborate arrangements were made for the success of the meeting. He said that under the event, competitions like Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, volleyball, running, archery etc. are being organized. He said that cultural programs and magic shows would be organized for the entertainment of the students and requested the students to utilize this opportunity.

Later, the dignitaries handed over medals to the winners of the 800 meters race event. R Keerthan and B Madhu Priya won the first and second prizes, while Nandini won the third prize. Around 5,000 students studying in 1,022 residential educational institutions across the state are participating in the meet.
