This has never been seen before in the cricket world. This matter has raised many doubtful questions in the minds of the fans before the T20 World Cup. Let us tell you that this whole incident has been seen in the American Premier League (APL). The umpire was thrown out of the field during the semi-final match of the league itself.
According to reports, the umpires claim that they were not paid their dues of $30,000. Whereas APL has claimed that despite getting down payment, the umpires demanded money from the owner and blackmailed them to stop the semi-final. Only when the uproar increased, the police were called and the umpires were removed from the field.
APL said through social media post, ‘Down payment was made to the umpires, but they blackmailed the team owner for 30 thousand dollars. Also started threatening to stop the semi-finals. Said to paymate first otherwise there will be no match. Danny Khan, Vijaya, Brian Owens were told that they cannot blackmail as umpires. When the umpires refused to leave the field to continue the match, the police were called.
Journalist Peter Della Penna spoke to the umpires and quoted them as saying, ‘I am Vijaya Prakash Mallela, one of the ICC panel umpires from UAE. It was a pleasure for me to work with the teams for the last 10 days. Sorry, the umpires are not being paid approximately $30,000 in dues. We have our own expenses. When we demanded money for our services and expenses, the police were called. We had no option other than leaving the match.
