Two Accused of Trolling Renu Desai Arrested

Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Cyber Crime Police have arrested two individuals on charges of sending obscene and derogatory comments to actress and filmmaker Renu Desai on social media. These arrests follow a complaint filed by Desai, in which she alleged that she was being subjected to continuous harassment, abusive language, and the dissemination of false propaganda from four different accounts. She stated that the harassment intensified after she began speaking publicly on social issues, including sharing her views regarding stray dogs.
Utilizing digital forensics, investigators identified and took two suspects into custody, while the search for others remains ongoing. A case has been registered under the IT Act, and the police have issued a warning that online anonymity does not provide immunity from legal consequences—particularly in cases involving the harassment of women and public figures. This action comes shortly after Desai released a video vowing to take legal action against her trolls. Since her divorce from actor Pawan Kalyan, she has repeatedly faced online abuse. This move underscores Telangana’s strict stance against cyberbullying; similar arrests have been made in cases involving other public figures, such as television presenter Anasuya.
