Tripura: Chief Minister unveils substantial increase in MLA Area Development Fund

Agartala: Minister Principal Professor Dr. Manik Saha made an important announcement regarding the MLA Area Development Fund in the inaugural session of the Decimatoresara Legislative Assembly of Tripura. In his speech before the Assembly, Dr. He revealed that the current allocation for MLA Area Development Scheme is of Rs. 50 lakh per MLA annually, which is Rs. Rs 30 crore for 60 Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs).326453470012

Introducing substantial improvements, Dr. Saha increased the funds for the scheme to Rs. 75 lakh, which marks a significant additional allocation of Rs. 25 lakh per MLA. This measure will increase the annual general allocation for 60 MLAs to Rs. Rs 45 million, which requires an additional Rs. Rs 15 crore.

Emphasizing the importance of this increase, Dr. Saha said that it is expected that the increase in funds will be implemented in the next financial year 2024-25. This measure underlines the Government’s commitment to promoting local development and ensuring that the MLA Area Development Fund is transformed into a more tangible tool to bring about positive change in the communities of Tripura.

The Prime Minister highlighted that the additional financial injection is aimed at empowering MLAs to take impactful initiatives within their electorates. By tripling the funds available for local development projects, the government is expected to get a substantial boost in the implementation of community-centric schemes, infrastructure development and welfare programmes.

Dr. Saha’s announcement reflects a strategic vision for inclusive growth and sustainable development in line with the general objectives of the State.
