PATHANAMTHITTA: A major leak was noticed while replacing a new LPG cylinder at a house in Pathanamthitta. A major disaster was averted as the cylinder was immediately thrown out. The incident happened the other day at the house of Renjith. The visuals surfaced show cooking gas from the cylinder thrown spreading to nearby areas.


Renjith said, ‘The incident happened the other day at 8 pm. The explosion occurred when tried to turn on the LPG after fitting the new cylinder. The cylinder was then rotating from inside. The accident occurred while lighting the stove to cook rice. The kitchen became like snow after that. Threw the cylinder out immediately. When the complaint was reported, the gas agency delivered a new cylinder to the house’, said Renjith.
Things to keep in mind while using gas cylinders
1, Always use LPG cylinders with ISI mark on them

2, Buy cylinders from genuine dealers. Do not buy them from black market

3, Store the gas cylinder vertically on a flat surface and in a well-ventilated area

4, Make sure flammable materials and fuels are not near the gas cylinder

5, Get help from service man or deliveryman to connect gas cylinder properly

6, To prevent leakage, always turn off the gas cylinder knob after use.
