The PM will visit Odisha on June 20.

Bhubaneswar: Officials stated on Saturday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Pahadpur—the in-laws’ village of President Droupadi Murmu in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district—on June 20 and participate in several programs.
Pahadpur is the ancestral village of Murmu’s late husband, Shyam Charan Murmu. It is located approximately 20 kilometers from Rairangpur town, where the main state-level event marking the second anniversary of the BJP government in Odisha will be held. Droupadi Murmu was born in Uparbeda village in the Rairangpur sub-division and married Shyam Charan Murmu of Pahadpur. Her husband and two sons had passed away before she assumed the office of President in 2022. A memorial in memory of Murmu’s husband and sons has been built in the village.
According to officials, a large public event will be organized at Dandabosh in Rairangpur on June 20. The event will be attended by the President and the Prime Minister, along with Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, and other dignitaries.
During the event, several development projects will be inaugurated, foundation stones for new infrastructure works will be laid, and dignitaries will address the public gathering.
An official statement issued by the state government said, “Prior to the public event, the President and the Prime Minister will visit Pahadpur village, where they will participate in local programs and visit an exhibition showcasing regional achievements and initiatives.”
Meanwhile, the Odisha government has intensified preparations for the VVIP visit in Mayurbhanj district.
President Murmu is scheduled to arrive in Rairangpur on June 19, while the Prime Minister will attend the state-level function on June 20.
Ahead of the visit, Chief Secretary Anu Garg chaired a high-level review meeting on Saturday and directed officials to complete all preparations within the stipulated timeframe. Senior officials from both the central and state governments, along with other relevant stakeholders, attended the meeting. Officials from Mayurbhanj district—including the Collector, the Inspector General (IG) of the Eastern Range, and the Superintendent of Police—participated virtually. Discussions covered various aspects such as security arrangements, protocol management, convoy movement, helipad preparations, airport logistics, accommodation, healthcare facilities, fire safety, uninterrupted power and drinking water supply, road infrastructure, sanitation, telecommunications, and media coordination.
Radha Kishan Sharma, Special Secretary of the Home Department, presented a detailed status report on the preparations.
The Chief Secretary emphasized the need for better coordination between departments and district officials, regular monitoring of progress, and strict adherence to timelines. He instructed officials to maintain the highest standards of security, protocol, and logistics management during the visits of the President and the Prime Minister.
Following the meeting, Eastern Range DIG Pinak Mishra stated that approximately 150 platoons of police personnel, in addition to senior officers, would be deployed for security arrangements during the event.
Earlier on Thursday, Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) Y.B. Khurania visited Mayurbhanj to review preparations for the state government’s second-anniversary program. He instructed police personnel to remain vigilant in inter-state border areas to ensure robust security.
Officials stated that the DGP inspected the routes to be taken by the President and the Prime Minister and reviewed the arrangements at the venues President Murmu is scheduled to visit during her two-day tour of Odisha.
