Arunachal: RGU organized a yoga session.

RONO HILLS: As part of the nationwide countdown to the 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY), Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) organised a Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) session for NCC and NSS volunteers at its main playground here on Saturday morning.
The session was conducted with the objective of promoting physical fitness, mental wellbeing, discipline, and awareness of the CYP among youth volunteers in preparation for the IDY 2026 celebration, according to an RGU release.
A large number of volunteers participated in the yoga session and performed various yogic activities, including asanas, pranayama, and meditation techniques, as prescribed under the CYP.
The session was conducted by yoga teaching assistant Rikpu Kamcham, whose expert guidance and practical demonstrations enabled the participants to understand the importance of regular yoga practice for maintaining physical fitness, mental peace, and overall wellbeing.
RGU Physical Education Assistant Director Dr A Yuvaraj, who is the nodal officer for IDY 2026 programme, also participated in the CYP session and supervised the overall conduct of the event. He appreciated the enthusiastic participation of the volunteers, and highlighted the significance of yoga in developing a healthy body, calm mind, and balanced lifestyle.
The session was conducted under the guidance of RGU Vice Chancellor Prof SK Nayak, with the support from RGU Registrar NT Rikam.
The CYP session was one of the important signature activities being organised by RGU as part of the countdown to the 12th IDY. The celebrations will culminate with a grand ‘Yoga Sangam’ programme on 21 June, reinforcing the message of this year’s theme, ‘Yoga for Healthy Ageing’.
