Bilaspur. The police have finally arrested the accused who had absconded after killing a youth in front of a liquor shop in the district. The accused Deepak Thakur alias Baba (23 years) has been caught from the de-addiction center of the district hospital. The incident took place on the night of August 25, when the accused murdered Rahul Singh Chauhan (29 years) by slitting his throat with a broken liquor bottle near the old bus stand, Bilaspur. During the investigation of the case, the police scanned the nearby CCTV footage and made efforts to identify the accused, but due to it being night time, there were difficulties in identifying the accused.
The police and cyber team continued to search for the accused with the help of CCTV footage near the incident site. On the information of the informer, the police cordoned off the de-addiction center of the district hospital and arrested the accused Deepak Thakur. During police interrogation, Deepak Thakur confessed to the murder and told that after a normal dispute with the deceased, he killed him by hitting him on the throat with a broken liquor bottle. The accused also admitted in his statement that after the incident he kept his clothes in a yellow bag, which has been recovered by the police.
Another case is registered against Deepak Thakur, in which during his escape, he attacked another person and caused serious injuries to him when he did not get money. Police have arrested the accused in both the cases and sent him to jail on judicial remand.
