The AAP government has drowned Punjab in corruption, drugs, and crime: Amit Shah

Punjab: Ahead of his rally in Moga, Punjab, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday took aim at the AAP government, accusing it of plunging the state into corruption, drugs, and crime. He asserted that Punjab desires ‘change.’ In a post on X, Shah stated, “Every individual in Punjab seeks change. This is because the sacred land of Punjab—renowned for its soldiers, farmers, and hardworking people—has been drowned in corruption, drugs, and crime by the ‘AAP-da’ (disaster) government.” Attacking the Bhagwant Mann government over the law-and-order situation, Shah remarked that under the rule of this “remote-controlled” AAP government, both law and order and development have “vanished” from Punjab. Shah added, “Today, we are eager to interact with our brothers and sisters in Punjab at the BJP’s ‘Badlav’ (Change) rally in Moga.”
Shah is scheduled to address the ‘Badlav’ rally in Moga on Saturday. This rally is being viewed as the launch of the BJP’s election campaign in Punjab, where Assembly elections are slated to be held in early 2027. Extensive arrangements have been made for the rally at Killi Chahalan village in Moga. Moga falls within Punjab’s politically significant Malwa region, which accounts for 69 of the state’s 117 Assembly seats; elections in this region are due early next year. In February, the AAP had held a rally at this very venue, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal. Earlier, Punjab BJP Working President Ashwani Sharma had claimed that everyone in Punjab views the BJP as a trustworthy and credible alternative for bringing about change in the state. He asserted that the people have made up their minds to oust the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) from power in 2027.
