Hyderabad: A tigress was found dead in the Kagaznagar forest in Telangana’s Kumaram Bheem Asifabad district due to a “territorial fight” between tigers, forest officials said on Sunday.
According to a statement from the director’s office, on January 6, a forest worker found the carcass of a tiger, following which the district forest officer, Neeraj T, along with officials including two doctors and veterinarians rushed to the area for investigation. Head of Wildlife.
It was found that the tiger was a female of about one year old and of middle age. He said there were marks on the neck and stomach of the animal and there were also hair samples in the mouth of the fallen tigress, possibly belonging to another tiger, which have been sent for further investigation.
Veterinarians have also ruled out any possibility of poisoning. He said other parts of the animal, including its skin and nails, were also found intact.
Based on observation and investigation, the team determined that it was a case of “territorial fighting” between tigers and, given the decomposition of the carcass, estimated that death must have occurred at least three to four days earlier. The officer said.
The statement said the animal’s body was removed as per protocol and with proper documentation.
