Telangana: More BRS and BJP leaders will join after Dussehra

Telangana: State Committee (TPCC) chief Mahesh Kumar Goud remarked that more leaders from the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are set to join the party after the Dussehra festival. He made this statement while addressing the media at Gandhi Bhavan, the Congress state headquarters, on Friday, October 11. The TPCC chief said that many more MLAs from the TRS and BJP are in touch with the Congress party, and their joining the party is prevented due to “internal reasons” which will be dealt with after Dussehra. During the press meet, he accused the BRS and BJP of striking “dodgy deals”, pointing to the bail granted to BRS leader K Kavitha in the alleged liquor scam before Aam Aadmi Party leader and former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.

The TPCC president accused the BRS and the BJP of collectively attempting to destabilise the Congress government in Telangana. Reacting to the controversy related to the controversial statements made by the state Forest and Environment Minister Konda Surekha about Tollywood’s Akkineni family and actress Samantha, the TPCC chief said that the party will not take any disciplinary action against her. Mahesh Goud said that the minister has tendered an unconditional apology to the persons concerned and the party high command has not sought any explanation for the statements made by Minister Surekha. The TPCC chief said that the minister should not have made such comments against the Tollywood family. The party had distanced itself from the minister’s remarks during the uproar in the state. The TPCC chief further alleged that BRS leaders targeted women members of the state cabinet including Seethakka and Konda Surekha and spread misinformation against them.
