TSRTC Director General VC Sajjanar took to X (previously Twitter) to share the positive response received by the buses organized for the festival. While dozens of people travel to their native cities during Sankranti, TSRTC had initially planned to operate special buses for a sum of Rs 4,484. A total of 4,400 special buses were operated on three days, 11, 12 and 13 January, taking the total number of buses operated till Saturday to 6,261. Another 652 buses are also planned to be included in Sunday’s influx. Of the special buses, 1,127 buses were sent from Hyderabad city to Karimnagar, Warangal, Vijayawada, Khammam and other routes with high passenger traffic. For the first time in the history of the corporation, a command and control center was set up in the TSRTC bus building to monitor the special buses. He informed that more than half of the passengers traveling in these buses were women, and said that all would travel for free to their native places under the framework of the Mahalakshmi scheme. Sajjanar appreciated the TSRTC personnel working during the festival and said advance planning and coordinated work helped them transport passengers without any incident.
