Tamil Nadu: Former MLA Ms. Lingamuthu passes away

Tamil Nadu: K. Lingamuthu (73), former MLA from the Gudiyatham (reserved) constituency and a member of the Communist Party of India, passed away at his home on Friday (February 6).

His ancestral village is Chettikuppam village in Gudiyatham Union. He was born in 1953 into a farming family. He had studied up to SSLC (Secondary School Leaving Certificate). He was a staunch supporter of the Communist Party and joined the party in 1976, holding various responsibilities within the party.

He contested and won the election for Chettikuppam Panchayat President in the local body elections held in 1986 and 1996. He was also elected as a Union Committee member in the local body elections held in 2006.

In the 2011 assembly elections for the Gudiyatham (reserved) constituency, Lingamuthu contested on the sickle and hammer symbol and emerged victorious. During his tenure, he interacted easily with all parties without any party bias. He was highly respected by the people of his constituency. He was currently a member of the party’s state committee. He had been in poor health for the past few months.

His funeral will be held on Saturday (February 7) afternoon in Chettikuppam village. He is survived by his wife Latha, a daughter Muththamizh, and a son Milamathi Selvan.
