Tamil Nadu: A farmer from Kodaikanal grows multi-coloured cauliflower

Tamil Nadu: Prabhu, a farmer in the Senbaganur area of Kodaikanal, is growing cauliflower in a variety of colors using exotic seeds.
Prabhu, a farmer in the Chenbaganur area of Dindigul district, purchased exotic cassava seeds, sowed, and planted them. Three months later, they sprouted in a variety of colors, including yellow, green, and pink. He now sells them in the area.
Tourists visiting Kodaikanal eagerly purchase them. People in the Kodaikanal area love them because they are delicious and rich in vitamins and protein. Many people praised him for growing cauliflower in a variety of colors, the first in the Kodaikanal area.
The farmer told reporters:
Our family is a farming family. I have been farming on about 2 acres of leased land for the past six years. I grow carrots, beans, peas, cabbage, red radish, cauliflower, nukal, and other crops and sell them. Last year, a friend from Perumalmalai gave me cauliflower seeds grown in Switzerland and advised me to grow them. I sowed the seeds, and they sprouted in 30 days. When 500 plants had grown, I replanted them and cared for them. After 70 days, yellow, green, pink, and orange cauliflowers had sprouted well, each weighing 500 grams to one kilogram.
I make a good profit selling these in the Kodaikanal area for 250 to 330 rupees per kilogram. The cauliflower season runs from the last week of December to March. If grown later, yields will be significantly reduced. Recently, crops have been damaged by wild cattle, wild boars, deer, peacocks, etc. on farmland. Therefore, crops can only be saved if the wild animals are permanently driven back to the forest area, he said.
