Suresh Gopi has promised that Modi government will not ignore Kerala

Kerala: Union Minister of State Suresh Gopi has promised that the Modi government will not ignore Kerala and will soon bring AIIMS to Kerala. But Kerala was completely ignored in the Rajya Sabha the other day. Union Health Minister JP Nadda asked Rajya Sabha MP John Brittas whether AIIMS will be allowed in Kerala. Nadda replied that AIIMS in Kerala is not under consideration at the moment. Kerala is one of the major states without AIIMS. A supplementary question was raised seeking clarification on whether AIIMS will be announced for Kerala in the upcoming Union Budget, but the minister did not give a clear answer. Earlier, MP John Brittas had asked in the Rajya Sabha whether Kerala will get AIIMS.

John Brittas said that despite the establishment of AIIMS in many states, not giving AIIMS to Kerala, which ranks first in the country in terms of health system, is discrimination. JP said in one line that Kerala is also considering AIIMS. Nadda’s answer that day. Although Nadda had replied in the Rajya Sabha that he would consider Kerala’s demand for AIIMS when the time comes, the current answer is that it is not being considered. After coming to power in 2014, the central government had decided to set up AIIMS in all the states of the country.

But despite AIIMS being announced in most of the states of the country, Kerala has not yet received assurance regarding AIIMS. The state health department believes that 200 acres of land acquired by the government in Kinalur in Kozhikode district is suitable for AIIMS. Kerala has proposed to the Center to set up AIIMS at four places including Kinalur.
