Surat: Civil Government College of Nursing’s B.Sc. Oath ceremony of nursing students

The lamp lighting and oath taking ceremony of the 14th batch first year B.Sc Nursing students was organized at the Government Nursing College, Surat New Civil Hospital. Nursing College Principal Dr. Indravati Rao and T.B. in the lamp lighting ceremony organized in the auditorium hall of the Civil Hospital. And Dr. Parul Vadgama, Head of the Chest Department, awarded and administered the oath to the students who completed the B.Sc Nursing degree.

Principal of Nursing College, Dr. Indravati Rao, while explaining the importance of lighting the lamp and taking oath in the life of a nurse, said that E.S., who gave a new identity to nursing by combining human service with nursing. The concept of lamp lightning and the oath is associated with Florence Nightingale, born in 1820. As a pioneer of modern nursing, she is known as the ‘Lady with the Lamp’. Nurses are the heart of the hospital, and no hospital or doctor can function successfully without them.

On this occasion, Narmad University Nominee Board Member Dr. Mahendra Singh Chauhan said, Nursing is a noble profession, nowadays nursing is considered an excellent career option. Nursing services have a unique contribution in the success of any doctor or hospital. The role of the nurse is the cornerstone of the health infrastructure. The nurse is responsible for the care, safety and treatment of the patient.

Last December, seven students from the Government Nursing College at New Civil have been selected into AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences), which is a proud event for South Gujarat, said Iqbal Kadiwala of the Nursing Council. Nursing students are given all possible help and support from the college. The students of Government Nursing College, Surat getting 100% employment after the course shows its excellent performance. On this occasion, Professor Kiran Domadia, who retired after 33 years of long service in Surat Nursing College, was honored by presenting her a shawl and memento.

It is noteworthy that after studying nursing, nursing trainees go to the hospital ward and take an oath to serve the patients dutifully before doing the practical and actual practice of treating the patients. Whereas first year students mark their debut in this field by lighting the lamp before starting their studies.
