Strong attack on ‘red terror’, NIA arrested wanted Maoist

New Delhi (IANS) | A wanted Maoist affiliated with the banned militant outfit People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI) was taken into custody by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Sunday. There was a reward of Rs 30 lakh on it. Sources in the probe agency said that the detained Maoist has been identified as Dinesh Gope and a reward of Rs 25 lakh was placed on him by the Jharkhand government and Rs five lakh by the NIA.
Sources said, intelligence agencies, police, CRPF were keeping an eye on him for the last 15 years. He was involved in Naxalite activities for more than two decades. There are more than 100 cases pending against him. The interrogation of the accused is going on. However, the NIA has not given any official statement regarding this matter.
Gop had recently demanded 10 AK-47s from a BJP leader from Bihar. Gope threatened to kill the BJP leader if his demands were not met.
