Samajwadi Party’s Rajya Sabha candidate Dhanraj Nathwani has praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for completing 25 years as the head of the government. Congratulating Prime Minister Modi on social media platform X, he praised his leadership, commitment and dedication towards nation building. Political discussions have intensified after the SP candidate praised Prime Minister Modi. AIMIM has also raised questions on Samajwadi Party regarding this post.
Dhanraj Nathwani congratulated on social media
Samajwadi Party’s Rajya Sabha candidate Dhanraj Nathwani shared a post congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his X handle on Wednesday, October 7. He wrote that 25 years of leadership, 25 years of commitment and 25 years of ‘pledge to serve’.
Referring to the political journey of Prime Minister Modi in his post, Nathwani said that from taking oath as the Chief Minister of Gujarat in 2001 to becoming the Prime Minister of the country, he has come a long journey.
He praised Prime Minister Modi’s strong faith, hard work and commitment towards nation building. Along with this, a video of about one minute related to the political journey of the Prime Minister was also shared.
The journey from becoming the Chief Minister of Gujarat to the Prime Minister
Dhanraj Nathwani in his post mentioned important milestones in the political life of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that Modi was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Gujarat on October 7, 2001. After this he led the Gujarat government for a long time and became the Prime Minister of the country in the year 2014.
Nathwani said that circumstances and challenges kept changing with time, but Prime Minister Modi’s leadership and his determination towards nation building remained constant.
He used words like ‘pledge of service’ and ‘national duty’ in his message. Along with this, he wished Prime Minister Modi further strength, energy and success to serve the country.
Discussion on the post of Samajwadi Party candidate
Dhanraj Nathwani’s post is also in discussion because he is the Rajya Sabha candidate of Samajwadi Party from Uttar Pradesh. Samajwadi Party and Bharatiya Janata Party are the main rival parties in the politics of the state.
Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav has been continuously criticizing the policies and decisions of the BJP government. In such a situation, political reactions have emerged regarding SP’s Rajya Sabha candidate publicly praising the leadership of Prime Minister Modi.
However, Nathwani has not announced any political alliance, party switch or support to BJP in his post. He has congratulated Prime Minister Modi on his 25 years of tenure.
AIMIM raised questions on Samajwadi Party
After Dhanraj Nathwani’s post surfaced, Asaduddin Owaisi’s party All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen i.e. AIMIM has targeted the Samajwadi Party.
AIMIM raised questions over SP’s Rajya Sabha candidate praising Prime Minister Modi. The party also reacted to the political stance of the Samajwadi Party.
After this incident, Nathwani’s post was not limited to just a congratulatory message, but became a subject of political debate. However, an official response from the Samajwadi Party to Nathwani’s post has not been confirmed.
SP made candidate in Rajya Sabha elections
Elections for 10 Rajya Sabha seats of Uttar Pradesh are scheduled for 16 October 2026. Samajwadi Party has fielded its senior leaders Ram Gopal Yadav and Dhanraj Nathwani as candidates for this election.
Whereas Bharatiya Janata Party has fielded eight candidates. After the completion of the nomination process for the Rajya Sabha elections, the nomination papers were scrutinized on Wednesday.
According to the election officer, nominations of eight candidates of BJP and two of Samajwadi Party have been found valid. While the nominations of two independent candidates were rejected during scrutiny.
In such a situation, currently only 10 candidates are in the fray for 10 seats. In this situation all the candidates are likely to be elected unopposed. However, the final situation will be clear only after the formal election process is completed.
Dhanraj Nathwani is associated with Reliance Group
Dhanraj Nathwani is also related to the corporate sector. He is working in a senior position in Reliance Group. His father Parimal Nathwani is also associated with Reliance Group and is a Rajya Sabha MP.
Samajwadi Party had created a discussion in political circles by making Dhanraj Nathwani its candidate for Rajya Sabha elections. After his name surfaced, questions were also raised by the opposition parties on SP’s candidate selection.
Bahujan Samaj Party President Mayawati had also criticized the nomination of Ram Gopal Yadav and Dhanraj Nathwani as candidates from the Samajwadi Party. Mayawati had accused SP of giving priority to nepotism and capitalists.
However, these allegations were part of Mayawati’s political statement.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi completed 25 years of his tenure as the head of the government on 7 October 2026. He took charge as Chief Minister of Gujarat on 7 October 2001.
