Start of Indore Metro’s Super Corridor-Radisson Square route postponed again

Madhya Pradesh: The launch of commercial operations on the much-awaited 5.9-kilometer Indore Metro corridor—stretching from Super Corridor to Radisson Square—has been delayed once again. This marks the sixth time the project has missed a scheduled deadline. Consequently, commuters awaiting this route will have to wait even longer.

Reports indicate that for the past nine months, metro officials had repeatedly assured that services would commence soon; however, the latest deadline of June 21 was also missed. The timeline now appears to be slipping further.

A major challenge facing this 5.9-kilometer corridor involves obtaining clearance from the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS). The existing CMRS approval is reportedly set to expire on June 24, prompting officials to initiate the process for fresh approval. This procedural requirement is expected to delay the start of operations by at least another month.

The launch date for this route has been revised multiple times. Initially, the target was October 2, 2025, but the date was repeatedly pushed back. Subsequent potential deadlines included October 20, 2025, December 2025, March 2026, and April 2026, yet none of these targets were met.

Officials state that the delay is due to the time required for technical trials, safety standard inspections, and the final approval process. Meanwhile, the repeated delays are causing frustration among commuters and city residents who have long awaited the launch of this metro route.

The metro project aims to alleviate traffic congestion in the city and provide a rapid public transport facility. This corridor connects key commercial and residential areas of Indore and is expected to benefit thousands of daily commuters. For now, a new date for commercial operations can only be finalized after the new CMRS approval process is completed. Until then, this metro corridor is once again in a state of indefinite waiting.
