Ambikapur. The district police is continuously taking action against the people who make local liquor from Mahua. During one such raid, the Udaipur police have been accused of assaulting a woman and her husband. It is alleged that the policemen thrashed both of them fiercely and took them to the police station. The woman was released from the police station after taking a bribe of Rs 30,000. The woman complained about this incident to the SP, after which the SP has formed an investigation team under the leadership of SDOP.
In this case, the police say that the woman works to sell liquor illegally. The woman alleges that on June 21, policemen from the Udaipur police station reached her house. Then the female constable and the policeman beat her with hands and kicks, saying that she was selling liquor. The police are accused that when they did not find illegal liquor in the house, they caught both of them and took them to the police station. 30 thousand rupees were demanded from him in the police station. According to the woman, the husband had received Rs 48,000 from LIC. Out of which his son gave 30 thousand rupees to a policeman named Santosh Gupta. After which the woman was released. But her husband was detained in the police station itself. The woman’s husband was again assaulted in the police station.
