Bilaspur. Due to a land dispute, the son-in-law’s mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law, and the deceased’s wife conspired to murder and dump the body in the mud. Following an investigation, the police arrested the accused and sent them to jail after presenting them in court. Following a hearing, the district court sentenced the accused to life imprisonment and a fine of 10,000 rupees. The case occurred three years ago in the Masturi police station area. Public Prosecutor Vijendra Tiwari represented the government in this case.
According to the prosecution diary, on July 16, 2022, in the village of Vedparasada, under the Masturi police station area, Santosh Sahu, a resident of Khaira village, was murdered by his in-laws and his body was dumped in the mud. The police reported the deceased as having fallen from the roof while drunk and died. The police established a case file and began the investigation.
Based on the post-mortem report, the police investigated and discovered that the deceased, Santosh Sahu, a resident of Khaira village, had his in-laws’ home in Vedparasada, Masturi police station area. He had purchased a piece of land from his mother-in-law, for which he had paid the money and repeatedly requested its registration, but his in-laws were refusing to register it. On July 16, 2022, his in-laws summoned him to Vedparasada, claiming they needed to register the land. The deceased arrived at his in-laws’ home with his two children. His wife had been living in her maternal home in Vedparasada for a year. Upon arriving at the village, his wife, Rajeshwari, his mother-in-law, Dashomati, his father-in-law, Shyamlal Sahu, and his brother-in-law, Yogesh, attacked him with sticks, axes, and knives, killing him.
