Durg. The Durg police raided 40 junkyards across the district by forming a jumbo team on Sunday morning. In this raid, stolen iron was seized on a large scale from scrap yards. Even rebar and iron of Bhilai Steel Plant were found at the scrapyard. The cut parts of stolen trucks, cars, cycles and bikes and aluminum were found on a large scale at Lalit Kabadi, the biggest scrap shop in the district.
This was the biggest action so far on the instructions of the new SP of Durg, Dr. Shalabh Sinha. SP did this raid under complete planning. He first called for a list of junkyards across the district. After that, on the instructions of ASP Sanjay Dhruv, 40 different teams were prepared for simultaneous raids according to the police station area of all. None of the teams were told where to raid. All were called to the police control room in the early hours of Sunday. After this the slips containing the names of all the 40 scavengers were put in a box. After this the chit was drawn in the name of the station in-charge. The station in-charge in whose name the scavenger slip came out, was sent to there.
Although SP Durg had kept this raid confidential, but its information had reached Lalit Kabadi. That’s why he took out the expensive junk from the yard in advance and fled in the night itself. When the police reached Lalit Kabadi’s house, he was not found there. His son is also absconding with him. Durg Superintendent of Police Shalabh Sinha had formed 40 teams to raid the scrap shops in the district. The team consisted of 14 inspectors and more than 100 jawans, including gazetted officers. Durg SP himself monitored this entire action.
