Shimla: Public meetings, protests banned at 10 identified places

Himachal Pradesh: District Magistrate of Shimla Anupam Kashyap today issued orders imposing a complete ban on holding public meetings, taking out processions and rallies, demonstrating, raising slogans, playing bands and carrying items that can be used as weapons for criminal purposes at all places in Shimla city. Exercising powers vested under Section 6 of the Punjab State Security Act, 1953, he issued orders to maintain order.

Ban on all types of public meetings and protests has been imposed from Chota Shimla to Ridge and Kennedy House, Rendezvous Restaurant to Rivoli Cinema up to a distance of 150 meters, Scandal Point to Kali Bari Temple, Chota Shimla Gurudwara to Link Road Chota Shimla Kasumpti Road, Chota Shimla Chowk to Raj Bhawan to Oak Over, Chota Shimla Gurudwara to Satti Stairs and footpath towards Kasumpti Road, Cart Road to Majitha House Link Road, AG Office to Cart Road, CPWD. Wide ground from the office, from the police booth above the Deputy Commissioner’s office to Lower Bazar for a distance of 50 meters. This order will not apply to police, paramilitary forces and army personnel while performing their duties.
