Durg. The Jamul police station in the district has arrested seven people red-handed for gambling. The police took this action based on reliable information from an informant. A team then surrounded the area and apprehended all the accused. On December 11, the police received information that some people were gambling with cards, betting money in an open area near Surdung Nala village. Upon receiving the information, the police team immediately reached the spot and conducted a planned raid. During the raid, seven accused were found gambling and were arrested on the spot.

The police seized Rs. 91,500 in cash and a deck of 52 playing cards from the accused. The recovered money and cards were seized as evidence. Action has been taken against all the arrested accused under Section 3(2) of the Chhattisgarh Gambling Prohibition Act, 2022.
The arrested accused include Shekhar Dewangan (resident of Mahamaya Ward, Surdung village), Rama Baghel (resident of Kailash Nagar), Santosh Shukla (resident of Milan Chowk, Surdung), Jitendra Sahani (resident of Indira Nagar, Supela), Murli Sahu (resident of Jewra Sirsa), Rajesh Sahu (resident of Housing Board, Charoda), and Satyam Sahu (resident of Shiv Mandir, Jamul).
