Sangrur: Prisoner attacks two wardens during surprise check

Punjab: An inmate of Sangrur District Jail allegedly attacked two jail wardens, tore their uniforms, removed the turban of one of them and injured another. It is being said that the incident happened when the wardens recovered a mobile phone from the prisoner during checking. According to information, on the complaint of the Assistant Superintendent of District Jail, Sangrur City Thana-1 police have registered a case against jail inmate Sandeep Singh, a resident of Sangrur, under Section 52 of the Prison Act and Sections 115 (2), 132, 121 (1) and 221 of the BNS. The Assistant Superintendent of Jail has said in his complaint that checking was done in Ward-8 of the jail on a secret information. During the checking, the wardens recovered a mobile phone without battery and SIM from Sandeep Singh. When the checking was going on, Sandeep attacked the wardens Gurwinder Singh and Gursewak Singh. Sandeep also punched Gursevak in the face, while Gurvinder suffered minor injuries. They also tore their uniforms and removed Gursevak’s turban.
