RHAC’s scholarship initiative provides financial assistance to tribal students

Assam: The Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council (RHAC) has provided one-time scholarship assistance to tribal students as part of its 2024-25 fiscal year initiative. The scheme aims to help economically disadvantaged students continue their education. Dozens of students from different constituencies have benefited from this initiative.

On April 27, scholarship checks were distributed to 34 students from villages under the Boko Council constituency. The event was held at the Boko Tourism Bhawan, where Councilor Sumit Rabha handed over the checks to the students. An education awareness meeting was also held on the occasion, attended by students and their parents.

Retired teachers Suren Kalita and Nagen Kalita addressed the gathering. They advised students to focus on their education and work hard. They said that education is the strongest means to a better future, and students should remain dedicated to their goals.

Councilor Sumit Rabha stated that the primary objective of this initiative is to ensure that no tribal student’s education is interrupted due to financial constraints. He explained that RHAC is continuously making efforts to provide students with opportunities to advance in education.

Another similar event was held at the Gobardhan Regional Youth Association office, where Bamunigaon Councilor Ajit Rabha presented scholarship checks to 24 students. This assistance was provided to students from the Bamunigaon Council constituency.

Ajit Rabha explained that approximately 100 students had applied for this scheme, but due to limited funds, only 24 students could be benefited. He also assured that more students would be included in the scheme in the next phase.

He stated that the Council’s endeavor is to provide such assistance to as many students as possible in the future, so that no deserving student is deprived of education due to lack of resources.

This initiative was met with enthusiasm among students and parents. Many people called this a positive step in the field of education. At the end of the program, attendees praised RHAC’s initiative and called it crucial for the development of the tribal community.
