Reservation necessary for Class IV jobs in private sector

Business: Union Minister Anupriya Patel on Sunday reiterated her demand for implementation of reservation in Class IV jobs in the private sector. Speaking to reporters, Patel said, “Reservation is not followed in appointments made to Class IV posts through outsourcing in the private sector. People from the underprivileged class used to get Class IV jobs. When recruitment is done to these posts through outsourcing, the reservation law is not followed.” She said, “Our party wants that reservation should be followed in all Class IV jobs through outsourcing in the private sector.” On the Uttar Pradesh Nazul Property (Management and use for public purposes) Bill, 2024 introduced by the state government, Patel said it is “unnecessary”.

She said, “It has already been sent to the Select Committee by the Upper House. The committee will consider it and give its recommendation. Our party feels that it is unnecessary and against public sentiments.” Nazul land is government-owned land that was originally acquired during the colonial period for specific purposes such as public utilities, administrative work or settlement of displaced persons. On the issue of the Ayodhya rape incident, Patel said criminals have no religion. “Anyone who commits crime against women must be punished. Strict action must be taken,” he said. On the bypolls to 10 seats in the state, he said the NDA will contest all seats. He also reiterated his party’s demand for a caste census. “Without enumeration of castes, we cannot move ahead to ensure benefits to those for whom it is targeted,” he said.
