Raipur Police raids paan shop, hookah material worth Rs 17 lakh seized

Raipur. The operator of a paan shop selling and storing banned items related to hookah has been arrested. The team of Anti Crime and Cyber Unit received information that banned items related to hookah were being sold in Raj Paan Palace located next to Mayura Hotel near Jaistambh Chowk under Golbazar police station area. On which Additional Superintendent of Police City Lakhan Patle, Additional Superintendent of Police Crime Pitambar Singh Patel, City Superintendent of Police Kotwali Yogesh Sahu and Deputy Superintendent of Police Crime Dinesh Sinha, after verifying the information to the in-charge Anti Crime and Cyber Unit and police station incharge Golbazar, arrested the accused with hookah. Directed to catch red handed with related banned materials. On which the joint team of Anti Crime and Cyber Unit and Police Station Golbazar sent their pointer to the said paan shop and got the test purchase of the material related to hookah. During the test purchase, the persons present in the paan shop were selling prohibited items related to hookah. found.

On which a raid was conducted in the said paan shop by the team members. During the raid, two persons were present in the shop, who during interrogation revealed their names as Ashok Kumar Mandhani and Anurag Mandhani and also declared themselves to be the operators of the paan shop. When the team members searched the paan shop, it was found that material related to hookah was kept in the paan shop. On strict questioning, he revealed that he was selling banned items related to hookah in his paan shop and also storing the banned items related to hookah.

On which both the accused were arrested and banned from their possession, hookah pot, pipe, nozzle, coal, different types of flavours, tobacco and other materials related to hookah, worth about Rs 17 lakh were seized and crime number 91 was registered against the accused in police station Golbazar. /24 An offense under Section 4 (a), 21 (a) of Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (Prohibition of Advertisement and Regulation of Trade and Commercial Production, Supply and Distribution) Act 2003 and Amendment Act 2023 was registered and both the accused were sent to jail.
