Raipur police arrested a youth with a country-made pistol.

Raipur. Raipur Police, as part of a continuous investigation campaign against drug peddlers and suspicious individuals, arrested a 19-year-old man named Mohit Shah with a country-made pistol. One country-made pistol and two live cartridges were recovered from the accused. Inspector General of Police, Raipur Range, Amresh Mishra, and Deputy Inspector General of Police and Senior Superintendent of Police, Dr. Lal Umed Singh, had directed all station heads to conduct intensive checking of drug peddlers and criminals in their respective police station areas. In compliance with the orders of senior officers, Khamtarai Police Station continued its continuous surveillance and checking campaign.

How the Arrest Happened
On November 27, 2025, Khamtarai Police Station received information from an informant that a man was roaming around with a concealed gun near the Reliance Petrol Pump, Gondwara. Upon receiving the information, the police team immediately raided the area. During interrogation, the accused identified himself as Mohit Shah, son of Sanjay Shah, age 19, resident of Maharajpur Police Station, Ballia (MP), currently residing near Gajju Verma’s house in Gondwara Police Station, Khamtarai, Raipur. Police seized one country-made pistol and two live cartridges from the accused’s possession. A case number 1208/25 was registered against him at Khamtarai Police Station under Section 25 of the Arms Act, and legal proceedings were initiated.

Criminal History of the Accused
According to information, Mohit Shah has previously been involved in criminal activities. He has previous cases registered against him at Urla Police Station for attempted culpable homicide, robbery, and burglary at Vidhan Sabha Police Station. The accused has previously been imprisoned.

Police Action and Instructions
The Station House Officer of Khamtarai stated that the police team took prompt action based on information from an informant to apprehend the accused. Under the guidance of senior officers, surveillance and checking of drug addicts and suspicious individuals is continuing. Inspector General of Police Amresh Mishra stated that strict action will be taken against such criminals and that anyone found possessing or smuggling weapons will not be tolerated. He also appealed to the public to immediately report such suspicious individuals to the police.

Future Plans and Security Measures
Intensive checking and patrolling by police teams will continue in Khamtarai police station and surrounding areas. Officials stated that this will not only curb criminal activities but also increase public confidence in security. Following his arrest, Mohit Shah has been detained at Khamtarai police station, and the police have prepared all necessary documents for further legal action.
