Question on road construction in West Singhbhum

West Singhbhum: The 13 km long main road connecting Anandpur to Sameej has reached a bad condition even before the completion of the construction. The road surface has been eroded at many places and deep potholes have formed at many places, making traveling on this route risky for people. This road is considered an important route connecting Anandpur and Manoharpur blocks with headquarters like Chaibasa and Chakradharpur as well as to Odisha, Jamshedpur and other areas. The construction of this road started in the year 2020 under the Rural Works Department. Questions were being raised on its quality from the very beginning of the construction work. Local people say that while the road was being built, the pitch started crumbling in many parts, raising doubts over the quality of the construction. After the complaints, the officials reached the spot and conducted an investigation and reprimanded the sensors and engineers for the irregularities, but there was no significant improvement in the situation. Local villagers say that it took about four years to build the road, but they were not able to get its benefits properly. According to the villagers, construction work was going on on one side and the road was falling apart on the other side, which shows misuse of government funds. Villager Manoj Das said that when the road was opened, there was hope among the people that transportation would be easy, but now the situation is reversed. Krishna Samad said that this route is a lifeline for the people of the area, but due to its poor condition, there is a constant risk of accidents. Village Munda Dilip Marandi of Baghchatta said that even before the road was completely constructed, repairs were required in many parts. Gurgaon villager Lochan Nayak said that due to the bad condition of the road, the people of Samij, Gurgaon, Baghchatta and Pahardiha are facing a lot of problems. The villagers have demanded from the government that this road should be strengthened and widened again as soon as possible, so that people can get safe and easy transportation.
